Rainy Day Pattern Writing

There's a LOT of writing that I have to do today.
Good thing that it's yukky out....and it's no good to play.
   Writing patterns by the score....
   Sewing stuff, and doing more.....
What I'd REALLY like to do is nap the day away......

May 17, 2016
Hi Friends!
Did you ever wake up with an entire 'to-do' list and wish you could just have a lazy, read-a-book, watch-a-movie, have-more-coffee kind of day?  Yeah? Me, too. Sigh....
Alas, once again the 'to-do' list wins out.  It's just not worth the 'catch-up' time in the end.  Anyhow, I've gotten several patterns drawn and written, as well as a bit of sewing and some household chores out of the way.  Still feeling pretty lazy, but it was worth getting up this morning!
Here is a compilation of upcoming classes and events for you to consider.  I hope you can join us!!
Sew many of our customers have one or more of these little darlings ~
Singer  Featherweight 221 machines from the 1930's to the 1960's.

this past Saturday!  I look sew forward to those gatherings!  We have quite a few mini  patterns and kits available now for anyone interested in working on one of them from  home.  I'll get together with Meg at work and put together a paper with all that we've  done to this point, along with the finished size and kit prices or pattern prices.  They are  all fun to do!  (Well, to be honest, some are more fun than others!!  Hahaha!)  Our next  gathering will be Saturday, June 11 from 10-5.  I haven't made the project yet, but I  have it in my head!!  That's a start!
    Saturday, June 11                                    10-5                                             $5
I have information about Featherweight machines for sale.  I believe our customer, Donna Sheely has 2 for sale.  You can reach her at 614-578-0668.  Alsew, a customer in the Dayton area has several Featherweights for sale at $495.   If you are interested or need more information, please contact her directly at: .     Please put Featherweight in the subject line.

   It's SPRING, sort of!!

1 spaghetti squash
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 large zucchini, cut into bite-size pieces
1 green/yellow or red bell pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon dried Italian herb seasoning
2 cups grape tomatoes, halved
3/4 cup shaved or grated Parmesan
Pierce the shell of the spaghetti squash with a sharp knife and wrap in paper towels, or potatoe-cooker bag. Cook in microwave on High for 15-20 minutes. Set aside until cool enough to handle. Slice in half lengthwise; remove the seeds. Use a fork to pull the flesh of the squash away from the shell and place into a large bowl; fluff with the fork to separate the strands as much as possible.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir the onion in the hot oil until just tender, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and continue cooking and stirring another 3 minutes. Stir the zucchini and bell pepper into the mixture; season with the Italian herb seasoning. Pour the tomatoes into the skillet. Continue cooking just until the tomatoes are warmed, 3 to 5 minutes. Add the squash to the skillet and toss until evenly mixed.  Pour into greased casserole dish. Sprinkle with the Parmesan and bake in 350* oven 20 minutes to meld the flavors.
2 heads cauliflower
4oz Dijon mustard
1 ¼ cups mayonnaise
salt, freshly ground pepper
¼ cup sour cream
1 T dillweed
Break cauliflower into small florets and cook in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.  Immediately blanch in cold water.  Drain.  Combine all other ingredients and whisk until creamy.  Pour over cauliflower and gently toss until cauliflower is coated.  Chill and garnish with parsley
These were a HUGE hit and grabbed from the counter as they were brought from the kitchen!
3/4 C. butter
1 1/3 cups coconut
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 C flour
1 - 12oz jar apricot preserves
1/4 tsp baking powder
Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla.  Combine flour and baking powder and add to butter mixture.  Stir in coconut and nuts.  Press 2/3 dough in greased, floured 13x9 pan.  Spread with preserves.  Crumble rest of dough over top.  Bake 350* 30-35 min.  Cool and cut into squares.

"The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium." ~Norbet Platt
....actually, the 'thinking deeply' part of writing is nothing more than distracted day-dreaming. Hahaha!
