We are continuing our FREE Wednesday and Friday Sit 'n Sews. They are just the most supportive, creative energy-inducing, friendship growing, quilt making events you can imagine!!  For all the staff at Creations, it's like hosting a day of quilting with all our best friends in our home studio!! These events have taken on a life of their own and evolved to be sew much more that we first imagined!! My only request is that you respect the fact that these are not FREE CLASSES. My staff is always busy running the shop and waiting on customers. We are HAPPY to give you advice and a bit of help, but this is not the place for someone to come and learn how to use a rotary cutter, use their sewing machine, or interpret a complex pattern. If you bring a friend who needs lots of guidance, and you are going to provide it for her, that's awesome.  If you or your friend need lots of guidance and attention, we will be thrilled to help you with that.....but it will be in a private class setting. I hope you can understand that we are excited to share our sewing room with our friends, but we still need to be free to work with our walk-in customers.

Here are some Fun, Fast, Fall Recipes! Enjoy!
2 cups canned pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
8 ~ 8 inches flour tortillas
4 ounces shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1/4 cup vegetable oil
In bowl, stir pumpkin and spices. Spread over 4 tortillas. Sprinkle with cheese and nuts. Top with remaining tortillas. In large skillet, heat 1 tbsp. oil over medium-low. Cook quesadillas 1 at a time, turning once and adding more oil between batches, until browned, 3 minutes. Cut into wedges.
2 cups diced peeled butternut squash (about 8 ounces ~ you can buy this ready-to-use)
2 cups broccoli florets broken into bite-size pieces
3/4 cup pancetta, cut into 1/2-inch dice
Pinch of red pepper flakes
2 cups dry orecchiette pasta, or that of your choice
3/4 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup shaved Parmesan
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, toasted
Preheat the oven to 375*. Toss squash and broccoli with olive oil and salt and place in a single layer on a sheet tray. Bake until soft, about 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, in large pan with about 8 cups of salted water, bring to boil and cook pasta until al dente ~ 1 min. less than time recommended on box. Drain, reserving liquid.
Remove vegetables from the oven and set aside. Coat a large saute pan with olive oil and add pancetta and red pepper flakes. Saute pancetta until brown and crispy. Add the roasted squash and broccoli and chicken stock. Simmer until the liquid reduces by half, about 2 minutes.  Add drained pasta and stir gently but well. Add 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water.  Simmer about 1 minute until sauce thickens and clings to spoon. Stir in shaved Parm and serve.
4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp turmeric
Olive Oil
2 Gala apples, cut into wedges
1 red onion, sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 C chicken broth
1 T honey
Season the chicken with salt, pepper, the allspice and turmeric. Heat 1 T olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate; set aside. Add the apples, onion and a pinch of salt to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Add the lemon juice to the skillet and cook, scraping up any browned bits, 30 seconds. Add the chicken broth and honey. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to maintain a simmer. Arrange the chicken on top of the apple mixture. Cover and cook until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is slightly reduced, 10 - 15 min.
