What a wonderful weekend we just wrapped up! It was our Final Fling Quilt Away at the Christopher Inn here in Chillicothe. We had such an amazing weekend with friends, fun and food. It was bittersweet for me. As much as I love these events, I feel strongly that it's time for me to move on. The Christopher Inn is close to our shop, convenient, and easy to work with. I will offer occasional weekend-long events as my time and inspiration permit, and all of you here will be the first to know. If you ever have a request for an event you'd like to see us host, please share it with me! Here are a few pictures from our weekend that you might enjoy...

Made from beautifully stained and finished hardwood. ($25.)

We are continuing our FREE Wednesday and Friday Sit 'n Sews. They are just the most supportive, creative energy-inducing, friendship growing, quilt making events you can imagine!! For all the staff at Creations, it's like hosting a day of quilting with all our best friends in our home studio!! These events have taken on a life of their own and evolved to be sew much more that we first imagined!! My only request is that you respect the fact that these are not FREE CLASSES. My staff is always busy running the shop and waiting on customers. We are HAPPY to give you advice and a bit of help, but this is not the place for someone to come and learn how to use a rotary cutter, use their sewing machine, or interpret a complex pattern. If you bring a friend who needs lots of guidance, and you are going to provide it for her, that's awesome. If you or your friend need lots of guidance and attention, we will be thrilled to help you with that.....but it will be in a private class setting. I hope you can understand that we are excited to share our sewing room with our friends, but we still need to be free to work with our walk-in customers.

Here are some of the fun recipes from the weekend....
PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES (Lisa Merkle)
Oven: 375 degrees
Mix below ingredients: (I double recipe since I have 15 oz. can of pumpkin)
1 cup sugar
1 cup pumpkin
½ cup oil
Sift together and add to above:
2 cups flour
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon
2 tsp. Baking powder
Dissolve and add to the above ingredients:
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips *I use milk chocolate
½ cup nuts *I omitPreheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake approximately 10 to 12 minutes. NOTE: Careful not to overbake. Cookies will be soft and moist. (I bake for 9 mins. Makes about 40 cookies at approx. 1.5 inches when doubled. I use parchment paper.)
CROCK POT CANDY (Joy Thompson)
16 oz Unsalted peanuts
16 oz Salted peanuts
12 oz Semi-sweet morsels
4 oz German sweet chocolate
32 oz Almond bark (white)
1. Place peanuts in bottom of crock pot.
2. Break up chocolate & put on top.
3. Turn on low for 1.5 - 2.0 hours or until chocolate is melted.
4. Mix well. Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper & chill.
I used 16 oz lightly salted instead of salted peanuts, 20 oz dark chocolate morsels instead of 12 semi-sweet, & put mine in refrigerator (or freezer) to cool. I have also used chocolate almond bark (candy coating) instead of white.
LIGHT POPPY SEED DRESSING
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp poppy seeds
1 tsp dried mustard
1 tsp salt
Shake well before using.
Autumn is springtime in reverse. ~Terri Guillemets
I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze.
The sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves.
Of all the seasons, autumn offers the most to man and requires the least of him.
